Small Group training is the newest fitness offering from Campus Recreation. This type of class provides a unique experience by utilizing state of the art equipment only available to its participants. Keeping class capacity to between eight and twelve participants ensures not to only enhance a workout experience, but engages participants with a stronger sense of camaraderie while providing measurable results as well as immediate feedback from a certified instructor. Classes run for four weeks and are held twice per week. Register in advance, as space is limited!

Classes offerings are exclusive to it’s registered participants for that time slot and may not be interchanged with other offerings at different times.
Born in the Navy SEALs, Suspension Training body weight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete hundreds of exercises. In this class, participants will experience moderate to high intensity exercises incorporating the TRX with dynamic warm-up and a yoga based cool down. This class is best suited for all fitness levels with modifications being offered. Class size is limited to 8 participants.

H.I.I.T. or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. Usually 30 minutes in length, this class has been extended into one hour to allow for a gradual, athletic warm-up and includes a performance-based series of stretches at the end. Although HIIT is a very challenging class, anyone can get what they want from the class. All levels of fitness are welcome! Class size is limited to 12 participants.
This new Campus Recreation collaboration between Fitness’s Training Programs and Outdoors Pursuits climbing team will take your rock climbing specific strength and technique to the next level. This training plan is comprised of two days a week with the first day spent with your certified trainer to strengthen and stretch muscles to improve your strength and flexibility specific to climbing. On the second day, you will work with a professional from Outdoor Pursuits climbing team on the state of the art indoor rock climbing wall to build climbing strength and endurance. Previous climbing experience recommended but not necessary. Class size is limited to 8 participants.
This high energy class offers a forever changing variety of high intensity, functional movements using our new selection of performance equipment that will increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Cross-Train is perfect for all fitness levels and is guaranteed to provide a welcome change to your usual exercise routine. Class size is limited to 10 participants.

Women & Weights teaches the fundamentals of strength training in a comfortable and inclusive environment for all individuals identifying themselves as females. Through the development of proper form and movements, women will build the confidence to incorporate various exercises into their own strength training programs. Our certified trainers will educate its participants by debunking many of the common myths associated with women and strength training while providing a challenging workout! Class size is limited to 8 participants.
When strength training meets yoga, Yoga Sculpt is born. Boost metabolism and build lean, long muscle as you move to upbeat tracks. You’ll combine free weights with Power Yoga sequencing and cardio to intensify each yoga pose while mixing in strength-training moves like squats, lunges and bicep curls. This class is exclusive to faculty/staff of Wake Forest and is open to all levels of fitness. Class size is limited to 10 participants.
Learn and practice the basics of Olympic Weightlifting in this small group training environment. During this 4-week program you will work on the fundamentals of the Deadlift, Squat, Bench Press and the Push Press. Focus will be on full body movement while enhancing your strength, flexibility and speed. We will cover proper form and technique to complete each lift while improving movement patterns. All levels are welcome. Class size is limited to 8 participants.
This Style of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class focuses primarily on a format of 20 seconds of high intensity work followed by a much needed 10 second recovery period. This class will be sure to challenge anyone by incorporating a wide-variety of compound, full-body exercises using not only the participant’s body weight but will utilize some of the most state of the art functional equipment on the market. Participants will move at high intensity speeds giving %200 effort yielding improvements in the physical body, mental strength, and overall endurance. Class size is limited to 12 participants.
Whether you’ve been a competitive runner for years, training for a specific event, or just like to take the occasional jog this is the program for you. Make the most out of your current or future runs by practicing drills that encourage correct form and strengthen the body. Each session will close out with a crucial stretching session teaching you how to appropriately recover your body, prevent injury, and prepare it for your next run. Class participation is limited to 8 participants.
This bootcamp will be sure to challenge any participant to rethink the way they exercise. Utilizing plyometric exercises, functional strength exercises and yoga-inspired stretching this class will bring out the inner-athlete in anyone willing to step through the door. See measurable results, feel leaner and more fit while having fun at the same time! Class size is limited to 10 participants.
The days of training the abs by themselves and calling it core work is over! Train the entire body as one piece of the entire core and unlock more power to use for any sport, activity or everyday task. This class focuses on intense abdominal and low back training while simultaneously using the entire body to anyone to be a stronger human being! Using the TRX, Kettlebells, and many other functional training tools, participants will take their “core work” to a new level! Class size is limited to 12 participants.
Work with a Certified USA Olympic Weightlifting Coach to learn the core movements essential to start incorporating Olympic lifts into your own fitness routine. Starting with the base for any Olympic lift, the Hang Clean will become quickly ingrained into each participant so that other lifts like the Snatch and Push Jerk can follow. Anyone looking to gain strength, power, increased sport performance would benefit from this class. Class size is limited to 6 participants.
Imagine an exercise that uses every muscle in your body and then add two more to it and you have Kettlebells, Ropes and Sleds! Of course you’ll use more than just those three things but with the “Big 3” at the base of this class expect to be challenged in both muscular endurance as well as mental fortitude! There’s no athlete alive that hasn’t incorporated these movements into their training in the off season. Come play with these toys only available to it’s class participants.
