Nope! We offer free agent sign-ups for the majority of our leagues, and we can help place you on a team.
When a team concedes a game by notifying the Sport Programs office by 5pm on the day of the game, it is a default. The opposing team is declared the winner.
You can tell our office by:

- Calling or texting the office at 336-409-0500. Include your team name, game time, and leave a voicemail if we don’t answer!
Defaults
A default is when you can’t play, and you let us know.
- Conceding a game results in a loss, and the other team is declared the winner
- Two defaults in a season result in a $20 fine that must be paid at least 24 hours prior to the team’s next game
- Until the fine is paid, all players on the roster are suspended from participating in any Sport Programs event
- Two defaults in a 3-week season or three defaults in a 5-week season result in removal from the league
- Two defaults in a 5-week season result in playoff ineligibility
Forfeits
A forfeit is when you don’t have enough eligible players at the game, or when you fail to show up to the game and don’t alert our office.
- The other team is declared the winner
- A forfeit results in a fine to the team, as follows:
- Sports with 9+ players: $50
- Sports with 5-8 players: $35
- Sports with 3-4 players: $15
- Sports with 1-2 players: $10
- Until the fine is paid, all players on the roster are suspended from participating in any Sport Programs event
- A forfeit may result in a team being ineligible for playoff participation
- A second forfeit in the same season does not result in a second fine, but will result in removal from the league
The Intramural Sports Program recognizes that there are extenuating circumstances which may arise that can cause a team to not have enough players to play a contest.
Work and class conflicts/tests are not considered extenuating circumstances. Captains must appeal their forfeit charge within 24 hours of their forfeit by emailing and list the reason for the appeal. The appeals will be reviewed, and captains will be notified of the decision.
