Displaced Students from Helene
WFU Wellbeing Center Welcomes College Students Displaced by Hurricane Helene
In light of the recent disruptions caused by Hurricane Helene, we are extending our support to college students who have been displaced because their institution has temporarily closed. This includes students from the following colleges and universities:
- Appalachian State University
- Lees McRae College
- Mars Hill University
- Montreat College
- UNC – Asheville
- Western Carolina University
If you attend one of these institutions and are home or seeking refuge in the Piedmont Triad area during your school’s closure, we want to assist you in meeting your fitness and wellbeing needs. The Wake Forest Wellbeing Center is pleased to offer free access to all impacted students through the return of in-person classes at each institution.
Facility Access: College students displaced by Helene can utilize the WFU Wellbeing Center at no cost. Whether you’re looking to lift weights, participate in group exercise classes, swim, hit the climbing wall or simply unwind in a safe and welcoming environment, we are here to support your health and wellness.
To enter our facility, please present your university ID card at the Welcome Desk. Once you complete the facility waiver, we will process a day pass for you at no charge, allowing you to enjoy our facilities.
To ensure a pleasant atmosphere for all, access will be limited to weekdays before 1 p.m. and all day on weekends. This limitation allows our Wake Forest student body to utilize the facility during peak hours on weekday afternoons without excessive crowding.
Parking Information: To park on Wake Forest’s Campus, you will need to register for a visitor permit. This can be done by completing the online Visitor Vehicle Registration Form. In the reason for the request, please input “Hurricane Helene accommodation.”
We encourage displaced college students to take advantage of this opportunity to stay active and connect with fellow students during this difficult period. WFU’s Campus Recreation & Wellbeing Center team is dedicated to providing a supportive environment, and we look forward to helping you find a moment of respite from the chaos.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to reach out at campusrec@wfu.edu.
Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you to our facility!
