We’re searching for Campus Recreation’s next Executive Director.
We know this is an incredible role, but we also think now is a great time to be at Wake Forest.
We’re excited to tell you why.

Priority consideration will be given to applications received by Wednesday, February 18.
You’ve got some questions. We’ve got some answers.
Lots of things, obviously!
- Wake Forest is a private institution with around 5,500 undergraduates. We’re in a unique position; we have many of the resources of larger public university, but we retain a lot of the intimacy and collaborative opportunities of a smaller institution. You’ll recognize the faces you see on-campus while also working at a place with ACC athletics.
- Our University motto is Pro Humanitate, and we take it seriously. It’s Wake Forest’s call to action to use our knowledge, resources and talents to serve others and better the world.
- Our students are required to live on-campus for three years, which means that 85% of the undergraduate enrollment lives less than 10 minutes from our doors!
- Our students LOVE our programs!
- 90% of undergraduates are active each year in our programs and facilities.
- 68% of undergraduates indicated that Campus Recreation programs/facilities were very or moderately important in their decision to remain at Wake Forest. That is an 11% increase in the last 7 years!
- 42% of undergraduates play Intramural Sports each year!
- Among 20 private, regional peer institutions, we have the largest Intramural Sports program and 5th largest Club Sports program. We currently offer 42 Club Sports, and participation has increased 33% since 2018.
- Our beautiful home, the Wellbeing Center, was completely renovated and expanded in 2018.
- Enrollment is gradually increasing at Wake Forest. Both WFU and Campus Recreation are in strong financial position with increasing operating budgets.
Technically not a question, but we’ll allow it.
Not only is our team awesome, but we think it’s a major attraction for our next Executive Director.
Our team is made up of 16 professional staff and well over 300 student staff members. We’re the largest student employer at Wake Forest University!
It’s an excellent time to lead our team. We have established professionals who are already providing industry-standard recreational programming in fitness, sport programs, outdoor recreation and aquatics. Our team has a strong mix of experience and talent, but also a willingness to be flexible and dream about what’s next.
Our student staff members make our vision come to life. They are driven, intelligent leaders who embody everything there is to love about Wake Forest.
Of course!
Put simply, our mission is to provide excellent programs that foster lifelong wellbeing.
Our full mission and priorities can be seen here. While you’re browsing our website, we’d encourage you to check out all that we currently offer at Campus Recreation!
Campus Recreation is part of Wake Forest’s Division of Campus Life.
We love the ability that gives us to collaborate with other departments and offices that holistically contribute to a Demon Deacon student experience.
Campus Life has a strategic vision that Wake Forest is an inclusive learning community where all matter, belong, and thrive. The five themes of our strategic vision influence much of the amazing work we do.
Besides working with our awesome staff and students?
Wake Forest offers a number of generous benefits from medical to education to retirement to time off to… it might just be easier to share the link to our 2026 benefits and guidebook.
We think so, but we’re a little biased, so don’t take our word for it.
Winston-Salem has been ranked as one of the 100 best places to live in the U.S. because of its affordability and quality of life. It’s a medium-sized city with a moderate climate and easy access to mountains, beaches, and larger cities.
Winston-Salem is not too hot, not too cold, not too small, and not too big. Goldilocks zone, if you will.
