Campus Recreation Policies
- Proper identification must be carried at all times. Be prepared for verification of accepted credentials from security and facility personnel.
- Patrons must comply with the decisions of the supervisor at all times.
- Proper conduct will be expected from facility participants at all times.
- No hallway sports activities or setups are allowed without prior approval from facility supervisor.
- Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated.
- Athletic footwear must be worn during recreational activities.
- Non-marking shoes on courts only.
- Food is not permitted. Only drinks in plastic, resealable containers allowed.
- Smoking and vaping is prohibited.
- Use of duct tape, glitter, and helium balloons is prohibited.
- No alcohol or obvious effects of alcohol consumption will be permitted.
- Non-university participants must have gained prior permissions, paid guest fee, and signed waiver form.
- Wake Forest University and the WF Wellbeing Center strive to provide a safe campus environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Member of the campus community who have oversight of minors are expected to foster and maintain an appropriate and secure campus environment for persons under the age of eighteen (18) and to report suspected abuse or neglect and abide by the University’s Protection of Minors Policy.
Membership Guidelines
Campus Recreation offers a variety of memberships to students, staff, faculty, spouse/partners, and Wake Forest University affiliated parties.
- A valid Wake Forest University identification card is required for entrance into the Wellbeing Center.
- If a member forgets their Wake Forest identification card, they will be denied access. We will not look up member accounts.
- Membership is non-transferable. The Wake Forest University identification card can only be used by the cardholder. Use of the Wake Forest University identification card by anyone other than the cardholder is a violation of university policy.
Fitness Area Policies
- Wake Forest University is not responsible for any loss, damage, accident, illness, or injury to person or property arising out of or relating to participation or use of campus fitness and recreation facilities, equipment and activities. Users assume all risks and responsibilities surrounding use and participation and agree to adhere to all rules and regulations as set forth.
- Please adhere to any requests and directives by Campus Recreation facilities and fitness staff.
- Weight & fitness areas may be unsupervised and have no Facilities Staff on duty at times.
- Any maintenance issues or other concerns, including those regarding other users, should be brought to the attention of Campus Recreation Facilities Staff.
- Persons under the age of 16 years of age are not permitted in the WFU Wellbeing Center activity spaces (including but not limited to weight & fitness areas, multipurpose activity rooms, group fitness studios). Persons 16 -17 years of age must be an accompanied guest of a Wake Forest Campus Recreation member.
- Members must wear a shirt and appropriate athletic attire at all times inside the fitness spaces.
- Closed toe, non-marking athletic shoes must be worn in the Weight & Fitness areas at all times. Crocs, Slides, and other sandals/slippers are not permitted to be worn.
- Clothing with metal buttons, zippers, or other hardware like jean rivets are not permitted on any fitness equipment.
- Personal items, including any type of bags, jackets, helmets and purses are not allowed in the Weight & Fitness areas. Complimentary day use lockers are located in the locker rooms. Cubbies are also available throughout the facility.
- Protect your property. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
- Food and gum are not permitted in Weight & Fitness areas. Drinks in resealable, spill-proof containers are allowed.
- Please be respectful and courteous to others. Inappropriate language or behavior will not be tolerated.
- Only Wake Forest University employees are allowed to train clients in our facilities.
- The cardio and weight rooms are for the use of WFU students, employees and retirees for their individual workouts to promote their personal fitness and physical wellbeing. These areas are not for use by varsity student-athletes for strength & conditioning and training. Athletics has staff and state-of-art facilities and equipment to meet the needs of varsity student athletes.
- Members are required to use equipment for its intended purposes and maintain safety at all times.
- Appropriate athletic wear is required in all fitness spaces. Shirts and closed-toed, non-marking shoes are required at all times.
- Please limit your time on cardio machines to 30 minutes during peak hours (Monday – Friday; 3:00PM – 8:00PM).
- Please wipe down equipment after each use. Do not spray solution directly on the LCD monitors.
- Members are responsible for cleaning up any excess sweat on or around equipment.
- Appropriate athletic wear is required in all fitness spaces. Shirts and closed-toed, non-marking shoes are required at all times.
- Free weights must remain in their designated areas.
- Use of chalk is prohibited.
- Safety clips must be used for all barbell exercises.
- Excessive slamming of equipment and weights is prohibited.
- Use of a spotter, safety collars, spotter arms, and J-hooks are strongly recommended.
- Deadlifts and Olympic lifts are only allowed on the platforms and with rubberized, color plates. Please be aware of your surroundings when doing Olympic lifts.
- Dropping dumbbells and barbells is prohibited.
- Free weights must remain on the rubber flooring and cannot be used on the tile flooring.
- Use of benches for step-ups is prohibited.
- Allow others to work in between sets during peak hours (Monday – Friday; 3:00PM – 8:00PM).
- Re-rack weights and return equipment to the proper place after use.
- The Functional Training floor is prioritized for Personal Training and Fitness programming and classes.
- Appropriate athletic wear is required in all fitness spaces. Shirts and closed-toed, non-marking shoes are required at all times.
- Free weights must remain in designated spaces.
- Safety clips must be used for all barbell exercises.
- Overhead, deadlifts, and other Olympic lifts involving the dropping of weights are prohibited in the functional training area.
- Use of a spotter, safety collars, spotter arms and J-hooks are strongly recommended. Return safety arms to the rack if removed during exercise.
- Use of chalk is prohibited.
- Use of benches for step-ups is prohibited. Use wooden boxes provided.
- Push/pull sleds must be used on the turf only.
- TRX straps are for TRX bands only. Swinging from yellow TRX straps is prohibited.
- Wipe down all equipment, benches, and mats after use.
- Re-rack weights and return all equipment to its designated space after use.
- Appropriate athletic wear is required in all fitness spaces. Shirts and closed-toed, non-marking shoes are required at all times.
- Personal items are not allowed in the Weight & Fitness areas. Cubbies and complimentary day-use lockers are available for storing personal items.
- Safety clips must be used for all barbell exercises.
- Use of a spotter, safety collars, spotter arms, and J-hooks are strongly recommended.
- Deadlifts and Olympic lifts are only allowed with rubberized, color plates. Please be aware of your surroundings when doing Olympic lifts.
- Dropping dumbbells and barbells is prohibited.
- Use of chalk is prohibited.
- Allow others to work in between sets during peak hours (Monday – Friday; 3:00PM – 8:00PM).
- Use of Concept2 Rowing Ergs is prohibited and limited to club sports use only.
- Use of benches for step-ups is prohibited.
- Re-rack weights and return equipment to the proper place after use.
