Our Training Team
I have experience in competitive swimming training year round with high school league aquatics, including competing at the state level in Louisiana. I was also a track and field athlete running events in the 300m hurdles, 4×4 relay, and 100m. Additionally, I have 12 years of dance experience and 2 years of experience in competitive cheernastics. I have an ISSA Strength and Conditioning certification along with a Personal Training and Nutrition certification. I understand the workload of a multi-sport athlete along with balancing a social life and good academic standing. I also understand the importance of having a solid strength and conditioning program to be successful in a wide range of sports.
Hello! My name is Nate Olson and I’m a personal trainer with Wake Forest University. I’ve been working as a trainer for 10+ years working with a wide range of clientele including high school and collegiate athletes. I grew up on the West Coast in San Diego CA, and from an early age I was always interested in sports. I played competitively in football, basketball, and baseball. I’ve also always played golf recreationally and I love swimming. Unfortunately during my time playing sports, injuries became a problem, and I had to learn how to navigate around them. This led me to getting my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado and my Masters from Appalachian State University. I interned with the Olympic Sports strength and conditioning while also working as a trainer for the Health Promotions department for faculty and staff. I have also maintained certifications as an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and ACE Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) for over 10 years. Throughout all my years working with athletic populations, geriatrics, and the rest of the general public, I have learned the importance of prioritizing regular resistance training and it has been my passion for others to gain that knowledge as well. I’m all about establishing the fundamentals and basics of resistance training and helping people perform better, increase functionality, be stronger, and feel better! I look forward to working with you!
Hi y’all! My Name is Michael and I am originally from Linz, Austria. My sport background is Tennis and I had the privilege of working with the LSU Men’s Tennis Team as an Assistant Coach during my Bachelor’s Degree in Baton Rouge. After graduation, I accepted a position with the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center in Orlando, FL – working with Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers. I stayed in Orlando for another year working for BodyTech Sport Performance, where I mainly worked with high-level High School Athletes and College Athletes. For the past 2 years I have been overseeing Personal Training at Wake Forest. My expertise lies in Functional Training and Strength & Conditioning Training. I am excited to be able to work with you and make you a better athlete during the Summer. If you ever want to talk to me about fantasy football or European soccer – I am your person! See you soon 🙂
Hi, my name is Bailey Brennen, and I am a certified personal trainer at Wake Forest University. I grew up as a competitive swimmer and continued swimming throughout high school and college. In high school, we incorporated lifting into our training, but it wasn’t specialized for swimmers. As a result, many of us—myself included—ended up injured. I spent months in physical therapy for my shoulders, and as soon as I was strong enough, I committed to learning proper strength training.
When I got to college, I realized that many of my teammates had never lifted before, so I helped them improve their technique. Later, in graduate school, as I transitioned away from swimming, I discovered my passion for training others and decided to become certified. Now in my second year as a personal trainer, I look forward to continuing to share my knowledge and experiences with fellow athletes.
