Expanding fitness options to meet your needs.  WF Campus recreation is proud to announce the newest additional to studio class offerings. VIRTUAL provides endless opportunities for you to manage your workout needs when life gets busy.  Get ready to take your fitness to the big screen!

  • What is VIRTUAL?

    Simply put, VIRTUAL streams a workout from a projector and plays on a big screen.

  • Why try VIRTUAL?

    Sometimes life gets busy. Attending your favorite live, group-instructor led class may be a challenge as commitments or exams pile up.  Fitting a workout in to relieve stress is important. We understand… No worries! Check out the VIRTUAL class offerings and stay you on track with your personal schedule and fitness goals.

    Note:  VIRTUAL classes are still classes that begin at scheduled times daily; however, due to their nature of not being instructor-led, we are able to offer them more frequently. This is what makes them so flexible with busy schedules!

  • Who can attend VIRTUAL?
    • WFU undergraduates
    • WFU graduates who obtain a WF Wellbeing Center membership
    • WFU F/S who purchase a group fitness pass
  • Does VIRTUAL require a prerequiste?

    Yes. Three VIRTUAL offerings do require attendance to a “101” class prior.    When looking at either a webpage or printed group fitness schedule, these three classes requiring a prerequisite will be listed with an asterisk next to them. The prerequisite classes are:

    • BODYPUMP 101 (strength training class)
    • GRIT 101 (HIIT  offered as strength, cardio or plyo 30 min classes)
    • RPM 101 (cycle class)

    The remaining 4 offerings do not require a prerequisite prior to attending:

    • BODYCOMBAT (karate, mauy tai, kickbox based class)
    • BODYFLOW (tai chi, yoga, pilates based class)
    • CXWORX (core training class)
    • SH’BAM (dance class)
  • Why do some VIRTUAL classes require a "101" class but not all?

    Three VIRTUAL offerings (BODYPUMP, GRIT, and RPM) require use of equipment, personal set up, or unique safety concerns unique to each participant.  We want you to have the tools needed for a successful workout but also want you to be safe.  The “101” series is unique to each program offering. Each take as little as 15 or possibly as much as 30 minutes.  After completion, you are ready to start your VIRTUAL experience.

    The remaining VIRTUAL classes are all about you, movement, music, and working out. We want you to be safe in these classes too, promise!  We just ask you listen to your body, workout at your level and use gravity as your equipment option.

  • Which studios offer VIRTUAL?

    Two studios provide VIRTUAL classes.

    • RPM (cycle) only

    Group Fitness Studio-B201

  • What do I bring to VIRTUAL?

    Bring your ID

    • You will need to scan your WFU ID upon entry to the studio.  (If you want to attend BODYPUMP, GRIT, RPM, remember: You need to attend the “101” class prior.) Once you attend, you will have a VIRTUAL membership added under your personal account information placed in the facility software system.


    • We do not have water in the studios. Once you exit the studio, returned entry will not be possible.
  • How do I enter the studio for VIRTUAL?

    Outside the studio, Fitness Supervisors will be ready and waiting for you 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class.  They will verify your entry with a simple scan using your WFU ID. Periodically throughout the workout, staff might peek in.  No worries, they are merely checking to see all is well. At the end of class, staff will return to ensure you return all equipment and gather personal belongings before locking the studio.

  • What time does VIRTUAL begin?

    Although cinema like with the big screen… we don’t show any movie previews!  The time listed on the group fitness schedule(s) display is the actual start time. Arrive  10-15 minutes prior to class as late entry will not be provided.  Similar to a movie theater requesting all to refrain from talking, late entry is disruptive to others working out and in their zone. We ask for fitness etiquette and respect of others workout space whether Live class or VIRTUAL.
